Anja Helèn Fagerli talks about the similar ideas behind her new single "Gawjous" and Models of Diversity
All our lives we have been bombarded with images of what the western world and their society perceive as being beautiful. Young, skinny and tall teenagers on the verge of being anorexic are being displayed our catwalks. Airbrushed and photo shopped, "flawless" images on every magazine, poster and TV screen. Youngsters look to these people as being role models and they starve themselves for what society has portrayed as perfection. Our kids are taught from an early age that big is ugly and slim is beautiful. They in turn develope low confidence and have issues about their bodies, and strive to have bodies that are impossible to achieve. Our kids should be educated to be proud of whom they are and to appreciate that all people are different , not strive to be like anyone else, but themselves, It's time for change. "I don't care what they say cause I`m Gawjous". Be proud of who you are. If everyone was alike, imagine how boring the world would be.
My first single "Gawjous" is due to be released soon. It is a song for everyone, people off all shapes, color and race. It is a song for humanity. It is a song to celebrate our differences and for everyone to be proud of whom they are. Everyone is "Gawjous". Models of diversity reflect the message I want to get across. I feel honored and proud that I was able to be a part of Models of diversity and to perform at the fashion show. I met so many interesting people with drive, enthusiasm and most of all, with big hearts. I would like to give a special thanks to Angel Sinclair who is the most stunning, strong, passionate and brave woman I've ever met. I am so happy to see that Models of Diversity has gained so much attention in the press, its well deserved! It's time for change, we have to stand together and make this happen. . |
