Anita: How long have you guys been running?

Hughes: We have been running for just over 25 years
Anita: What inspired you to start a plus size modelling agency?
Hughes: Cheryl started the plus size agency as a result of getting request for bigger sized girls in the late 80's when working for a regular sized agency.
Anita: What size models do you work up to?
Hughes: We represent girls from size 10/12 to size 18/20
Anita: Who would you say are the best designer to work with plus size and why?
Hughes: There are some great plus size designers Anna Scholz do some great work, both Jeff Banks and Ben de Lisi, although not specifically plus size are great to work with and also Mark Fast.
Anita: What do you consider to be plus size?
Hughes: Plus size model traditionally is a size 16 upwards, but plus size in comparison to the skinny market where they are size 2 and 4 is really a size 12. But if that makes sense!
Anita: Do you think there is a market for the super plus size, should the larger size models be used?
Hughes: Clients are not requesting super plus size at the moment.
Anita: What were your worse experience and your best experience in the plus size industry?
Hughes: Best experience is seeing girls have wonderful successful careers and travelling internationally doing something they love. Seeing the change in the market over the last 20 - 25 years in the gradual acceptance of curvy women has been a wonderful thing to watch, however there is still a way to go!
Anita: What do you think of designers who won't work with plus size?
Hughes: They are totally entitled to the way they run their business and do what they feel is best for their garments. I can only hope that in the future they can see that the skill they have and the beauty of the garments they produce will look beautiful on Models that are not size zero's and two's.
Anita: What advice would you say to young models coming into the industry?
Hughes: Have a good head on your shoulders, be professional, realistic, be prepared to work hard and take knock backs, and have a great sense of humour.
Anita: Have you ever worked with any famous models/designers?
Hughes: As Europe's first and foremost agency in Europe for plus size we have had the pleasure of working with some amazing people and represent some of the world's top plus models. Top designers would be; Jeff Banks, Ben de Lisi, Caryn Franklin, Chelsey Oliver and Models Laura Wells, (Australian) and Johanna Dray (Parisian) to mention just a few.
Anita: If you could change one thing in the fashion industry, what would it be and why?
Hughes: For the high street and designers to truly embrace a woman's beauty and curves and reflect that in taking the plunge and using plus girls for their bigger ranges.
Anita: What do you hope to achieve this year?
Hughes: Continually pushing for the recognition from high street stores and designers and the end consumer that plus is beautiful!
Anita: Have you heard of Models of Diversity, what do you think of them?
Hughes: Great work, wonderful to see. The very best of luck
Anita: Thank you.
