Kelly Knox, winner of BBC3 reality show Britain's Missing Top Model, brings elegance to another photo shoot.
The Westbury Mayfair Hotel was looking to publicize a new events venue; for prestige hospitality and quality corporate services. To give "Washington House" the promotion it deserves, they decided to look beyond the obvious marketing techniques.
It was a perfect opportunity for Models of Diversity and we didn't hesitate to put Kelly Knox forward for the challenge.
We are campaigning to change the face of the modelling and fashion industry. It's not simply that we believe it's fair make use of a broader spectrum of models; we see the underrepresentation of regular people as a real and long standing problem, overdue for attention. It is a problem when young women starve themselves, sometimes fatally, in a sad attempt to mimic that certain look that the fashion industry dictates is desirable. It is a problem when women who can never have that identikit body feel in any way inferior or inadequate. And restricting the choice of models to certain looks is simply bad business. People engage with real people.
Kelly did Models of Diversity proud and the results show that she's first and foremost a beautiful model; one that just happens to have a disability.
Combined with top ethical stylist Lupe Castro the outcome is stunning imagery built on the foundation of sound values. |
